NAUT'SA MAWT

Affordable housing in the Comox Valley

Naut’sa mawt, a Coast Salish word meaning "together as one", is now open at 1679 McPhee Ave. in Courtenay. We own this five-storey, wood-frame building, and M’akola Housing Society manages it.

It offers 40 affordable studio and one-bedroom homes prioritized for Indigenous people, including Elders and people with disabilities on low to moderate incomes. Rents range from $500 to about $1,300 per month, and nearly 80% of units are fully accessible or adaptable. The building sits next to our Friendship Centre, which delivers 15+ programs and services.

This is possible thanks to the funding from BC Housing, CMHC, the Comox Valley Regional District, the City of Courtenay and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

HOUSING
PROJECTS

In partnership with the City of Courtenay, and M'akola Housing Society, we seek to address the on-going issue of affordable and accessible housing in the Comox Valley.

In 2019, we completed the Braidwood Project with our community partners. It added 35 much-needed units of affordable rental housing.
