This summer the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award - Canada will be hosting LEAD - a 9 day Leadership Camp.
Youth 14-24 years of age who are registered in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award are invited to apply.
The event will focus on: Leadership, Experience, Adventure and Development. Youth will have the opportunity to engage in activities alongside Award participants from across Canada. It’s the chance to spend time in the great outdoors, take part in workshops, develop leadership skills, and meet other people.
LEAD will take place August 23 – 31, 2016 at Camp Cedarwood, in Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba, which is approximately 1.5 hours north of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
At present, we have funding to cover the airfare for 4 Aboriginal youth from British Columbia departing from Victoria or Vancouver.
The total cost for accommodation / food / programming for the nine day camp is $200.
The first step is to Register for the Award. The Award registration fee will be sponsored for Aboriginal youth. Register for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award by completing the attached registration form and emailing it to Odette Laramee at this address (email@example.com).
Application for the LEAD will be accepted until June 15, 2016 – but we suggest you get it in soon!
Check out Camp Cedarwood ** as a number of the amazing activities they offer will become part of the LEAD camp. ** Disclaimer – Although Camp Cedarwood is a religious based camp, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Canada is renting out the facilities for LEAD which will be a non-denominational event, open to all participants of all faiths and creeds.**
