Multimedia (WaMM) is looking for a 6-month, full-time young aboriginal person experiencing employment obstacles to learn and assist in multimedia production. Working within the Wachiay Friendship Centre, candidates will be working alongside a small team to develop and deliver a national weekly podcast. Strong organizational skills, a desire to engage through hands-on learning with a goal to improve life-skills and multimedia related employable skill-sets. This work experience placement is part of the CreateAction: Inclusive Social Innovation program. The Wachiay Aboriginal MultiMedia Production Assistant will be part of a network of 25 CreateAction youth and will join in Wachiay regular peer learning and training sessions delivered by the program partners: the Canadian CED Network and the National Association of Friendship Centres.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
(a) be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at start of placement;
(b) be a Canadian citizen, or permanent resident or a protected person as defined by the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
(c) be legally entitled to work in Canada;
(d) be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and
(e) be experiencing one or more barriers to employment; and/or
(f) be not in education, employment, or training (NEET).
