Wachiay Friendship Centre Society is seeking a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant for our Legal Advocacy department.
Qualifications:
College Diploma or University undergraduate degree in related field
Minimum two years’ experience as a legal assistant or paralegal
Excellent administrative records classification knowledge and practices
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of legal system, criminal and family law
Knowledge of Windows Professional software, database creation and management
Duties:
Screening applications for advocacy services, including intake and referral
Routine correspondence and document management
Response to telephone inquiries
Data entry of client information into a database
Prepare monthly statistical and narrative reports
Monitor limitation periods
Maintain calendar, scheduler, enter and update client appointments
Provide information and summary advice under the supervision of the Senior Advocate
Other duties as required
